Dallas is home to the oldest and largest zoological park in Texas. Since you will not need to spend your time cleaning, you could go and explore the zoo.
We’re talking about the Dallas Zoo, and at over one hundred acres, it’s home to more than 2,000 animals representing 46 species.
There are an array of habitats to explore, including Giants of the Savanna which was named one of the “Top Ten Zoo Exhibits” by USA Today in 2015.
Animals include:
RED RIVER HOGS
Red river hogs are named for their red coat and tendency to wallow in rivers and streams. At forty to fifty inches, they’re the smallest of the African pigs, and these social animals live in groups featuring up to twenty individuals. In the wild, red river hogs live fifteen to twenty years, and they spend most of their adult lives searching for food.
CHEETAH
Cheetahs are the world’s fastest land mammal, and they can go from zero to sixty miles in just three seconds. Their keen eyesight helps them hunt for prey, and they only need to drink once every three to four days. The majority of wild cheetahs are found in eastern and southwestern Africa, and males tend to live alone or in small groups with their littermates.
AFRICAN ELEPHANTS
Known as the largest land mammal, African elephants are identified by their large ears and tusks. They range throughout sub-Saharan Africa as well as the rainforests of central and west Africa, and females roam in family herds with their young while males wander on their own. These animals enjoy splashing in the water, and they use their trunk for both breathing and drinking.
