If you want to spend a fun-filled day outdoors, head to one of the following destinations where you can enjoy the beautiful scenery while learning about an array of plants and animals:
CEDAR RIDGE NATURE PRESERVE
Spanning 600 acres, the Cedar Ridge Nature Preserve offers a scenic slice of Hill Country. It’s rich in wildlife, and the nine miles of trails allow visitors to see white-tailed deer and the rare black-capped vireo, in addition to native trees, grasses, and wildflowers. The preserve also features a butterfly garden and picnic areas, and it’s open Tuesday through Sunday until dusk.
DOGWOOD CANYON AUDUBON CENTER
The Dogwood Canyon Audubon Center is where plants, animals, and people all sustain each other for a healthier future. The center boasts it reveals a world many people in the area never see, and it takes its name from the flowering dogwoods that dot the landscape. Hikers can explore two miles of trails to see migrating and nesting birds such as downy woodpeckers, blue-gray gnatcatchers, and warbling vireos, along with other wildlife.
TRINITY RIVER AUDUBON CENTER
Nestled just ten miles south of downtown Dallas, the Trinity River Audubon Center features the Great Trinity Forest. Spanning 6,000 acres, it’s the country’s largest urban hardwood forest, and it contains an interesting mix of wetlands, grasslands, and bottomland hardwoods that are home to a diverse community of plant and animal species. Five miles of trails meander through the various habitats and along the Trinity River, and visitors can also explore a butterfly garden.
Throughout the year, the Trinity River Audubon Center also offers fun programs such as the Adventure Birding Series and Owl Prowl Night Hikes.
Valet Maids is a Dallas maid service that gives you time for the things that you enjoy.
